New: Green Light: A National Juried Exhibit for Young Artists with Disabilities, Ages 16-25 (new title)
Upcoming: September 17, 2008 - January 4, 2009 (new closing date)
On view are artworks that reflect the experiences of young artists with disabilities and reveal how those disabilities shape or transform the artists' lives and ultimate destinations. VSA arts sponsors an annual national juried exhibition for young artists ages 16-25 with disabilities; this is the 7th exhibition.

New: Posters from the Division of Community Education (DIVEDCO) of Puerto Rico, 1949-1989 (new title)
Upcoming: September 12, 2008 - January 18, 2009 (new opening date)
On view are examples of Puerto Rican poster art from the late 1940s to the late 1980s. Produced by artists enlisted by a government agency known as DivEdCo (Division de Educacion de la Comunidad), these posters were part of a broader effort to stimulate artistic production on the island while transforming its rural population into a model of modern, democratic citizenry.

The posters are from the collection of the Archives Center of the National Museum of American History. The exhibition is organized by the Smithsonian Latino Center.

New: Jim Henson's Fantastic World
July 12, 2008 - October 5, 2008
This exhibition explores the creativity and "visual thinking" of artist, puppeteer, film director, and producer Jim Henson (1936-90). On view are some 100 original artworks, including drawings, cartoons, and storyboards; television and movie props; photographs of Henson and his collaborators at work; original video productions, including excerpts from Henson's early career and experimental films; and Muppets, including Kermit the Frog, Rowlf, Bert, Ernie, and Nutty Bird.

Graphic Eloquence: Limited-Edition Prints from The Smithsonian Associates Art Collectors Program

On view are limited-edition works on paper created by American artists -- including Sean Scully, Janet Fish, Wolf Kahn and Elizabeth Catlett -- for the Art Collectors Program, which began in the early 1970's. The works are commissioned annually by the Art Collectors Program and many now hang in the permanent collections of national museums.
