Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C., are open every day of the year except December 25. Most museums are open from 10am to 5:30pm (see below). Summer hours are determined annually. See www.alerts.si.edu for museum closings due to inclement weather.

COOPER-HEWITT, NATIONAL DESIGN MUSEUM
Open Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm; Friday 10am-9pm;
Saturday 10am-6pm;
Sunday 12noon-6pm.
Note: Closed Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1
AMERICAN INDIAN MUSEUM, GEORGE GUSTAV HEYE CENTER
Open daily 10am-5pm;
Thursdays open until 8pm.

Admission
Admission is free for all Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C., and the American Indian Museum's George Gustav Heye Center in New York
A fee is required at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York (Members and children under age 12 are admitted free)
Museum Renovation
The American History Museum is closed for renovation until fall 2008
The Arts and Industries Building is closed in preparation for renovation
