Learning Lab: How Do You Zoo?
(Visitor Center, formerly Education Building)
Reconstructions of an animal exhibition area, an animal keeper's office, a commissary, and a veterinary hospital help young visitors learn what running a zoo and caring for animals is really like.

Entry Procedures
Individuals:
- Walk-in. For ages 5-10 with an adult. Limit of 25 at a time.

- Sat. and Sun., 10 AM-4 PM; call 202-633-1105 to confirm.

Groups:
- For weekday school group tours, call 202-633-4455 (voice) or 202-673-7800 (TTY)
- For weekend group reservations, call 202-633-1105 (voice)

- Flight Exhibit Enrichment
(Bird House Indoor Flight area)

Watch birds forage and catch their prey as a keeper and a volunteer narrate.

• Every Tues. and Thurs., 11 AM

- Giant Panda Interpreters
(outside Panda House)

• Mon.-Fri., 10 AM-4 PM

• Sat. and Sun, 10 AM-4 PM Volunteers share information on giant pandas, their habitat in China, special adaptations, and more (inside Panda House).

Also, on Saturdays, 10 AM-1 PM, behavior watch volunteers will answer questions about what they look for on their observation watch.

Note: Pandas Tian Tian (male), Mei Xiang (female), and Tai Shan (male cub) may be resting indoors, especially during hot weather.
