Author Leslie S. Klinger traces the evolution of the vampire with a focus on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Using film clips, recordings, contemporary travel books, and Stoker's notes for the narrative and the original manuscript, he reveals the secrets, inconsistencies, and falsehoods in Stoker's work. The most recent winners of the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award graduated together from the New England Conservatory of Music and have already performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. They are currently the quartet-in-residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The Jupiter Quartet performs Haydn's op. 77, no. 2; Beethoven's op. 59, no. 2; Shostakovich's op. 18; and Gubaidulina's Quartet no. 2. Note: Free tickets (up to 4 per person) can be reserved in advance through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 202-397-7328 or 800-551-7328 beginning at 10 AM two Mondays before the event.
